The Role

At Netflix, we value the diverse backgrounds of our global customer base, which enriches their unique experiences with our service. Building and maintaining customer trust is fundamental to our mission, and we earn this trust through our daily actions.

Our team focuses on consumer product security, using data to achieve two main objectives: 1) assessing the effectiveness of security measures across our products, and 2) creating intelligence to combat fraud at scale. In this role, you will uncover insights and detect fraud within our ecosystem by understanding our infrastructure and products. You will identify high-risk areas and implement changes to enhance our anomaly detection and product experiences. Leveraging your expertise in security and fraud prevention, you will analyze patterns, identify new signals, and recommend adjustments based on their impact on our customers and Netflix.

  • Develop data-driven insights to inform our device and product security strategy, including new signals for anomaly detection.
  • Compile and monitor anomalous request patterns and propose potential mitigations.
  • Plan and recommend enhancements to strengthen device and content security.
  • Analyze error logs to assess potential vulnerabilities at the device level.
  • Characterize request attributes across our diverse device and client ecosystem to identify potential automation risks.
  • Build insights into the security landscape and identity of Netflix’s large-scale device ecosystem, developing dashboards to communicate findings to stakeholders.

Desired Skills and Background

  • A passion for protecting our customers and products.
  • Familiarity with various fraud and abuse types, including device compromise, DRM issues, and content piracy.
  • Experience with analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Presto, SparkSQL, Python) and strong critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in diverse contexts.
