Data Engineer – United States – Remote
Maximus is seeking a Data Engineer to support our Indiana Eligibility team. In this role, you will lead our data engineering efforts for the Indiana Eligibility project, focusing on collecting data from various sources into a unified pipeline using Snowflake. To thrive in this position, you should possess a strong understanding of Snowflake architecture and management, along with proficiency in SQL, Python, AWS, ETL/ELT processes, and a foundational knowledge of machine learning, data warehousing, and report automation tools like Power BI and Tableau.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver business intelligence (BI) solutions across the organization by assessing business requirements, gathering technical specifications, and developing technology solutions.
- Design and maintain data integration solutions, including ETL/ELT architecture, semantic layer objects, reports, and dashboards to deliver analytic insights.
- Translate business needs into system requirements, data mapping, and design data and semantic models.
- Analyze requirements and apply architectural and engineering principles to create sustainable solutions that prioritize scalability, security, reliability, and manageability.
- Provide training and consultation to technical and non-technical internal teams.
- Produce work breakdowns and task estimates to scope and track project activities.
- Document best practices and standard procedures.
- Offer level 3 support for production systems.
- Collaborate effectively within the BI/IT team to develop end-to-end data warehouse solutions.
- Apply strong prioritization and time management skills to meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration within the team.
- Utilize analytical skills to understand data requirements and assist in developing data solutions.
- Maintain strong attention to detail while working both independently and as part of a team.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 3+ years of experience in engineering data and/or analytics solutions.
- Proven success in delivering data-centric projects.
- Ability to create high-quality documentation for business and system requirements, system design, data architecture, and training materials.
- Strong data skills, including complex queries and performance tuning, with experience in various data approaches (relational, dimensional, unstructured).
- Proficiency in building data and semantic layers using enterprise analytic tools such as Tableau, MicroStrategy, or Power BI.
- At least 2 years of experience with Snowflake on AWS, machine learning models, GitHub, Python, SQL, ETL/ELT, and data warehousing.
- Indiana residency is preferred.

Pay Transparency:
Maximus compensation considers various factors, including job location, education, training, experience, expected work quality and quantity, required travel, external market conditions, and internal value analysis. The annual salary is one component of Maximus’s total compensation package, which may also include short- and long-term incentives and program-specific awards. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off. Salary history will not be used in determining compensation. Maximus complies with regulatory minimum wage rates and exempt salary thresholds.
Annual Base Pay Range for this Position:
- Minimum: $44,000.00
- Maximum: $130,000.00
